An abundant bibliography on the geology of the area is given
Learning Objectives
The aim of the field is to acquire the following skills: direct observation of geological contexts on the field; integration of data derived from different geological disciplines; interpret the data collected in the field; geological survey planning; tracing of geological boundaries; draw up a geological map; draw geological sections and other works; drawing up of a geological report.
At the end of the field students will have to produce a geological map obtained from the geological maps of the individual areas; some
geological sections; explanatory notes to the general geological map (report).
Prerequisites
All students participating at field training must have basic geological knowledge, know the main elements of geological survey (use of the compass, reading geological maps, topographical orientation, etc.), know the principles of stratigraphy and have bases for recognizing rocks.
Teaching Methods
The didactic activity takes place almost exclusively on the ground. However, there are lessons in preparation for "Field training" and safety which must necessarily be held in the classroom.
Further information
For this activity the student must be provided with appropriate clothing, such as mountain boots, raincoat etc.
Type of Assessment
Each student must deliver after the end of the field (within a date to be agreed, but before the exam appeal):
a geological report relating to the area
Course program
4 hours of classroom lectures on the subject:
1) safety and behavior rules at the camp;
2) the geology of M. Nerone (PU).
On the field:
2 days for the explanation and observation of sedimentary successions in the Field training area (M.Nerone).
1 day for drawing up maps and stratigraphic and geomorphological analyzes.
3 days of field activities (in pairs) in the assigned areas.
4 days for geological survey, review by teaching staff of the work done by students, final papers (general geological map, geological sections and final report)
