Historical introduction to Computer Science. Hardware components of the computer; input and output devices; mass storage. Information and data. Representation of numbers. Counting in bases other than 10. Binary representation and operations. ASCII code. Representation of colours. Data processing; hints to sampling, security, privacy, compression of data. Boolean algebra of propositions and circuits. Hints to programming languages. Algorithms and data structures. Some sorting and search algorithms. Binary trees. Research binary trees.
