Formazione

Legenda
Education
I graduated in Physics at the University of Pisa (1996) with a Master thesis in Elementary Particle Physics on the Higgs Boson search in the CDF Experiment at the Tevatron collider of the Fermilab laboratory in Chicago (USA). Being associated with the Pisa Branch of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), I continued my research training by participating in the upgrade and optimization of the CDF-II detector, obtaining the Specialization in Physics at the same University (1997) and subsequently, defending a thesis on “Calorimetric Measurements in CDF: a New Algorithm to Improve the Energy Resolution of Hadronic Jets”, the PhD in Engineering at the University of Cassino (2001).
Brief summary of the research activities
Since my graduation in Physics I have carried out my research activity in the field of experimental particles physics, mainly developed at hadron colliders (Tevatron and LHC). I participated in international Collaborations experiments in the main laboratories of the field: CDF at Fermilab in Chicago; TOTEM, CMS and NA62 at CERN in Geneva. In the context of my research activities I mainly dealt with both data analysis and the related development of correction and reconstruction algorithms. Being in particular expert in the experimental problems related to the reconstruction and correction of hadronic jets, I have been (CDF, TOTEM, NA62) or I currently continue (CMS) to be actively involved: in the research of the Higgs boson and in studies on perturbative quantum chromodynamics (CDF and CMS); in optimization and development studies for hadronic jet correction algorithms (CDF and CMS); in the development of track reconstruction (TOTEM) and particle identification (NA62) algorithms; in the study of inelastic and diffractive processes (TOTEM and CMS); in the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model (CDF and CMS).
Recently I have also started to deal with the development of innovative techniques, based on “quantum sensing”, for the detection of particles through the use of Molecular-Nano-Magnets (NAMASSTE experiment).
